ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS: John is currently working on his fifth startup, Vendorin, the leading authority in enabling buyer-side organizations and their suppliers for electronic payments.
John’s previous experience include leadership positions in the following companies:
Laterna Magica: A specialized tour operator based in Sweden, offering educational travel to the Czech Republic. John worked with Laterna Magica in the startup phase back in 1990-1992, just as the Czech economy was opening up to foreign companies after decades under communism.
Eide & Eide Currency Management: John was part of the team that built the first Value Added Tax reclaim company in the U.S. John also worked in the foreign currency division of the company until it was acquired by Travelex in 1994.
Travelex Global Business Payments: This is now Travelex’s most profitable and fastest growing division, and it all started in Omaha, Nebraska with the business Travelex acquired from Eide & Eide Currency Management in 1994. John led the technology, operations and trading side of the business from inception through to the establishment of the business on three continents, revenue in excess of $10 million, and product leadership among banks and non-bank competitors.
Trancentrix: John was a co-founder of Trancentrix, an Inc 500 company in 2004. The company was backed by venture capital and sold to a portfolio company of a large private equity firm in 2005.
John has led growing businesses in Sweden, the Czech Republic, England and the United States.
TRANSACTIONAL EXPERIENCE: John has worked on a number of acquisitions, both in the position as a buyer and a seller. John has also been successful in raising debt and equity for his companies. On the equity side, John has successfully raised capital from co-founders, friends and family, angel investors, angel groups and venture capital firms. John has also has experience working with private equity firms and investment bankers.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: John is on the Board of Trustees of the Business Ethics Alliance and on the Board of Directors of the Midlands Venture Forum.
EDUCATION: John earned a BSBA in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Lund in Sweden.
